It all started with the simple observation that dumbbells were cluttering up gym floors everywhere and that a full set of traditional dumbbells took up too much space at home. The real idea came later, when inventor and founder Carl Towley suddenly woke up one night with a dream. Growing up in California during the 1970s, Carl became fascinated with physique bodybuilding and strength training. Imagining how legends like Bill Pearl, Charles Atlas and Mike Mentzer achieved their epic physiques led him to attach some cement-filled coffee cans to a broomstick as his first home gym. His obsession with fitness continued to grow, and eventually he landed a job repairing equipment at a gym in Santa Cruz.

The final design of the PowerBlock was indescribable!
